Management Shift Comes After Lukewarm Response

The new appointee steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing early showing last autumn.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure updated team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which highlighted that playtesting had indicated the need for a more defined game identity.

Ismailer stated that the developers is now refining Project Ethos with a refreshed approach, aiming to address community desires.

This announcement echoes a comparable step taken by 2K Games in August, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock development group.

The player input from last autumn’s the game playtest was enlightening. It confirmed the promise of a action-packed game but told us we still had improvements to make. It revealed the need for a more distinct identity.

It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the feedback to consideration and reimagined Project ETHOS with a revitalized goal - one that’s poised to deliver on its ambition to our fans.

The belief in this project increases every day. To boost the outstanding progress you’ve made, I’m excited to introduce the new hire as the incoming Lead of the team. After some time of conversations, Ben comes aboard us on Monday, October 20.

His management and expertise in the competitive gaming genre is considerable, having spent the recent years creating and managing some of the most well-known franchises in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and lately, Apex Legends.

The appointee currently serves in the role of senior developer and production lead at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. Brinkman earlier worked at Treyarch and Activision in various development positions on the iconic franchise series, and, prior to that, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.
